Fire-Resilient and Self-Reliant Wrightwood
A Community-Driven Wildfire Plan
One Town at a Time is leading a bold, community-driven initiative to make Wrightwood a model of wildfire resilience, affordability, and local self-reliance. In response to the growing wildfire threat—including the 2024 Bridge Fire—our plan focuses on reforestation, land stewardship, and emergency preparedness. We’re restoring burned areas with native plants, maintaining defensible space and firebreaks, and exploring advanced technologies to develop faster wildfire detection and response systems.
We are exploring innovative solutions to address gaps in traditional fire insurance and banking—such as a community-based fire insurance model and a local financial institution that supports residents’ unique needs. With evacuation support for vulnerable populations, smoke remediation resources, and an emergency water defense system modeled after successful international examples, we aim to keep Wrightwood safe, self-reliant, and sustainable—one town at a time.
